Als Aufsteiger musste Chemie Südwest 1957 anfangs viel Lehrgeld bezahlen. Doch die Mannschaft fing sich und kam aus der Abstiegszohne raus. Im Sommer fussionierte Chemie Südwest und Chemie West zu Chemie West. Fortan wurde als Dritte Mannschaft in Leutzsch gespielt.
