Nach den Gewinn des Reserve-Titels 1952 ging es in die neue Saison mit einer neuen Mannschaft. Diese war der stärke der anderen Mannschaften nicht gewachsen, und so musste viel Lehrgeld gezahlt werden. Mit den 15. Platz blieb man weit unter den Erwartungen.
